Protecting village character while pushing practical priorities
Abbotsley has a strong sense of character, and that matters to the people who live there. What I’m hearing is a desire to protect that, while also making sure everyday issues are not overlooked.
Every village in this ward has its own character and its own priorities. What links them is something simpler. People want to be heard, kept informed and properly represented when practical local issues need pushed through the system.
Part of good local representation is being clear about which level of government can actually move an issue. That is how you turn frustration into follow-through.
Parish raises and shapes local priorities and gives residents a direct local voice.
District has a key role in planning, conservation and making sure village character is properly understood.
County manages transport and infrastructure, including the school access issues residents have raised.
Abbotsley does not need grand promises. It needs consistent attention to both the bigger picture and the smaller details.
That means listening properly to what residents are saying about character, conservation and the day-to-day feel of the village.
It also means staying on the case when practical issues like verges and transport need moved on.
If there are issues in Abbotsley you think are being missed, please let me know.
